Blackberry Brae

Our simulator, Blackberry Brae, stands at almost 16hh and is a new concept, being only one of three in Scotland, and is the furthest North in the UK!

Having arrived in 2022, Blackberry enables participants to benefit from a one-to-one coaching session where the focus is on YOU and only YOU. There is no need to worry about what the horse may do – Blackberry is unflappable!

Sessions are 20 minutes and the rider’s position and posture can be fine-tuned whilst in movement by using large mounting blocks, mirrors and sensor analysis to provide assistance and evidence throughout. He is particularly useful for rehabilitation after illness or injury and to improve confidence after an accident or illness.

Blackberry is a fantastic state of the art coaching tool allowing participants to learn in complete safety with a coach right beside them. He can walk, trot, canter and can accommodate weights of up to 16 stone.

Blackberry gives riders a realistic horse-riding feeling and builds balance and confidence using a safe and warm environment.

Past studies have shown that the simulator produced significant improvement in the postural control of children and adults in sitting position, additionally showing a higher motor functionality. It has shown to improve outcomes with individuals with cerebral palsy, stroke, parkinsons, ASD as well as other conditions.

The fully interactive screen allows riders to ride at the beach and paddle in the sea, hack through the forest, visit the farm or even the zoo.
For the riders who wish to develop their riding skills to the next level there’s the opportunity to ride a dressage test and try some specialist movements such as leg yield, passage, half pass and piaffe.
